Is City’s drinking water safe?

Routine monitoring by Newcastle Public Works Authority found elevated lead levels in a small number of homes. Lead in drinking water most often comes from plumbing materials such as pipe solder, fixtures, or service lines after water sits in pipes. Additional testing is underway by the NPWA to better understand the results of routine regulatory testing.
