LADY RACERS Tied going into the final seconds, 8-foot shot gives Carl Albert the win
Newcastle misses out after final second Titan 2-pointer
It came down to the final seconds of the game for the Newcastle girls as they played Carl Albert in the State Championship game Saturday at OG&E Coliseum. The Lady Racers just missed their attempt at the title, finishing as OSSAA Class 5A State Runner-Up.
The Racers had the ball with time winding down, but an offensive foul turned the ball over. Carl Albert, with only seconds remaining, drove the court and hit an eight-foot 2-pointer to claim the win, 47-45.
Newcastle finishes the 2026 basketball season 28-3 with only the one instate loss. Their other losses were at an out-of-state tournament. They were Regional and Area Champions. At the State Tournament, they beat Glenpool, 62-49, on Thursday. On Friday in the semi-finals, they beat Booker T. Washington, 62-47. That left only the championship game with Carl Albert.
The Lady Racers lose only 2 seniors to graduation. They are: Bella Allen and Reagan Greenroyd.
