Brotherly love for the game; Newcastle on a win streak

As of last Friday, the Newcastle Racer Soccer team was 5-0, and is on a seven-game win streak going back to pre-season competition.

Head Coach Nick McMillian said this year’s team has 17 seniors. He said this is the biggest senior class there has ever been for Newcastle Soccer.

There are multiple sets of brothers: the Holts, Gavin a senior, and Nate a senior; the Martinez brothers, Creed a senior, and Uriah a junior; the Medranos, Brian a senior, and Matthewafreshman;andwhat McMillian described as an interesting set in the Phifers. Nash is a freshman, Milo is a senior, and Newcastle High School graduate Tobias is an assistant coach.

McMillian said this is the first Newcastle boys team in history to beat a Class 6A school. The Racers beat Putnam City in a preseason match, 3-1.
