Connor Leader wins 2 more State titles
Connor Leader, a senior at Newcastle High School, is now a three-time Oklahoma Champion swimmer having just won two more State titles this year at the Class 5A Oklahoma Secondary School Athletic Association State Swim Meet.
Connor, swimming at the Edmond Aquatic Center, won the 200 meter Individual Medley with the time of 1:56.43 beating the second place finisher by almost 8 seconds. Connor also won the 100 Butterfly with a time of 52.48 finishing over 1 second ahead of the second place finisher. Both were his personal best times.
This will be the last year of an eight-year run with a Leader putting on the swim cap to represent the Racers. Between Connor and his sister Ashley they totaled eight state titles for the Racers.
Connor will continue to swim in preparation for the OKS State swim meet in Bartlesville May 5-8 and is looking forward to continuing his swimming in college at Oklahoma Christian University.
School officials said, “Huge congratulations to Connor for an outstanding performance at the State Championship. We are so proud of you. Way to represent Racer Swim.”
