Newcastle continues to lead McClain County communities in the sale of Medical Marijuana.
According to the January report from the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority (OMMA), the amount of sales tax which goes back to city coffers resulting from the local sales was higher in Newcastle than in Purcell and Blanchard.
Newcastle had a return of $7,491.80 as compared to $2,338.05 returned to Purcell and $2445.91 returned to Blanchard.
The communities together contributed $11,850.69 to the State of Oklahoma, and $20,679.96 to the OMMA. As a whole, the sale of Medical Marijuana in McClain County contributed $44,806.41 in sales tax to the three entities — OMMA, the State of Oklahoma, and the municipalities.
