All lanes of State Highway 76 have been closed between S.W. 16th St. and S.W. 24th St. in Newcastle due to emergency road repairs. Oklahoma Department of Transportation states that drivers should avoid the area and locate an alternate route. Notice will be sent when lanes open. That portion of the highway was closed at the City of Newcastle’s request due to safety concerns. The City Manager, after speaking with ODOT Operations, confirmed that the drainage box beneath Highway 76 will require full replacement. ODOT has been construcing a temporary solution to restore traffic flow along 76 while engineers evaluate and determine the appropriate long-term repair strategy.
