Regionals is next up for Newcastle Wrestling as several Racers will be competing.
The girls traveled to 6A Regionals at Shawnee on Monday and Tuesday, while the boys head to Noble tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday. The top five placers at Regionals will qualify for the State Tournament to b held February 26-28.
Lady Racers who competed at Regionals are Addison Schuringa, a 110-pound senior; Tatum McDaniel, a 140-pound senior; and Katie Julian, a 155-pound sophomore. Managers Mackienzie Lovejoy and Reynolds Rinehart also made the trip.
Racer wrestlers going to Noble are the following: Colton Dobbs, 113-pound sophomore; Gage Stark, 120-pound junior; Jace Pierce, 126-pound senior; Dean Lingle, 132-pound junior; Eli Berry, 138-pound freshman; Jaxon Mitchell, 144-pound senior; Kage McLean, 150-pound senior; Jaxon Watson, 157-pound freshman; Maddix Wooten, 165-pound sophomore; Cameron Povec, 175-pound senior; Rylan Rinehart, 190-pound freshman; Austin Mitchell, 215-pound sophomore; and Stockton Herring, 285-pound freshman.
NHS versus CCS
The Racer boys wrestled a dual against Community Christian School on February 10. The dual came down to the heavyweight match to determine the winner.
Freshman Stockton Herring kept the Royals from winning by only allowing a decision. This gave the Racers the win, 39-36. This concluded the Racers regular season action with an 8-6 dual record.
