A design for new tennis courts, kickball courts, and sand volleyball courts has been approved by Newcastle City Council.

The courts, designed by Copeland Design Collective, will be north of the SplashPad and adjacent to the existing basketball court. They won’t include a refurbishing of the basketball court at this time, but Parks & Recreation Director Kyle Marks has placed the community on the waiting list for a future Oklahoma City Thunder Cares Court. Efforts are ongoing to bring that opportunity to the park.

There will be concrete connections linking the courts to the SplashPad area.

Construction on the new sports facility is anticipated to be complete by late July to early August, and city leaders are excited to see the space come to life. They said they will continue to improve Veterans Park.

The tennis courts will be reserved at times for school practice use, while the complex is intended to serve the broader community outside of those windows.
