Before regular business activities were underway at the Newcastle City Council meeting on Monday, February 9, Mayor Karl Nail read from a proclamation noting February 21-28 as National FFA Week in the City of Newcastle.
Nail said, on a personal note, “FFA is an outstanding organization that impacts the people of our community for their lifetime. I’m a product of FFA and I am very thankful for the opportunity of being part of that organization, and what it has meant to me in my lifetime.”
The proclamation the mayor read mentioned the strong foundation FFA creates for the youth of America. It noted the leadership and career success a student obtains, and the young professionals it produces.
It also noted the direction and purpose FFA provides to students, and that FFA promotes citizenship, volunteerism, patriotism and cooperation.
