Coming up in March is the Racers for Excellence Sweet Scholar Auction to raise funds for scholarships for Newcastle High School students.
This annual fundraiser, presented this year by Pioneer Fiber Internet and Community Bank of Oklahoma, is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 24 at Newcastle Christian Church.
Lunch and a “Tasting Fork Combo” is $35, or lunch only is $25 and “Tasting Fork” only for $15.
A Newcastle Chamber of Commerce spokesperson said, “Join us as we raise funds for the Racers for Excellence Scholarship, awarded to selected Newcastle Public Schools seniors.
“This year, we’re aiming to beat our record and raise more than $4,000 in scholarships.”

The Chamber is accepting Dessert Auction donations and asks community members to use their baking skills for the cause.
“We’re accepting auction items, including desserts, gift baskets, services, and other valuable items.,” the spokesperson said.
Last year’s auction raised $6,075 and was used for nine scholarships.
