If you have noticed City of Newcastle crews tearing down trees and digging ditches, this is the Infrastructure work on The Town Center Plaza. The work is south of Fox Lane on the City’s approximate 9 acres of commercial property at 124 S. Main Street.
The City also has water infrastructure needs being stockpiled on the south end.
The work is the beginning activities for the conceptual Town Center Plaza, planned by the City to house retail and help define how the City would like future development to appear. The City is working with FSB for master planning work on the Planned Unit Development (PUD), intended for retail tax generating businesses.
Mayor Karl Nail, in an earlier announcement, said the City’s goal is to have space available for possible restaurants or fastfood, but be able to market the property with the highest return.
