family and consumer science standards. Walker said some of those standards include textiles and fashion, hospitality and tourism, and consumer and family resources.
Next on the tour was the new band room. Notes of the Racer fight song have been etched into the west and south sides of the building exterior. Significant work remains on the inside of the band room to have it completed by the end of March, Walker said.
“Ductwork had been completed and the upstairs offices and storage area is in progress,” she said. “And there are also practice rooms on the first floor.”
The band room also serves as the safe room for the high school. It is built to withstand strong winds. Walker said the high school projects could not be possible without the support of the Newcastle community when it approved the 2022 bond issue.
She said, “Thank you for voting yes for our kids.”
