A total of 12 of the 19 communities in the region were up in retail sales when compared to sales in January 2025.
Newcastle was not among them as our local area had a decrease.
The January 2026 report from the Oklahoma Tax Commission was recently sent out and reflects returns of tax dollars sent back to area municipalities for purchases made in December 2025.
Newcastle’s city coffers had a return of Use and Sales Taxes of $963,993.58. In comparison, the City was returned $975,027.77 the previous year.
Purcell and Goldsby, both of whom were way up last year, were the two towns with the biggest deficits from 2025.
Goldsby was down almost $36,000 and Purcell was down $14,150.
Blanchard registered the biggest gain, bringing in $125,361 in comparison to the previous year’s numbers. Norman was next up by nearly $70,000, and Washington, who had an increase in their rate, was up over $10,000.
Pauls Valley was up $27,335 over last year.
