Sheriff’s Office warns of scam involving warrants

The McClain County Sheriff’s Office has received reports of phone scams involving callers falsely identifying themselves as McClain County deputies.

In these calls, individuals are told they have an active warrant—most commonly for missed jury duty — and are instructed to pay money over the phone to resolve the matter. This is a scam. Do not provide any money or personal information.

The McClain County Sheriff’s Office does not request payment for warrants over the telephone. Warrants are addressed only through official court proceedings.

If you have questions regarding jury duty, please contact the McClain County Court Clerk’s Office directly.

If you are unsure whether a caller is legitimately from the McClain County Sheriff’s Office, please contact our administrative office at 405-527-2141.
