Newcastle’s boys beat Class 5A opponent Lawton MacArthur, 71-41, and the Racer girls beat MacArthur, 70-41, in games on Tuesday, December 16.
The win gives the Racer boys a 9-1 record on the year.
The Racer girls (4-1 as of December 19) suffered their first loss in a game against Bishop McNamara, of Forestville, Maryland, at the Nike Tournament of Champions in Arizona.
The Racers return to action after the holiday break with a game January 6, 2026 against Class 5A opponent Santa Fe South. Newcastle’s girls are in the Mustang Invitational against Class 6A Piedmont at 9 a.m. December 29.
