A filing period for candidates who seek a seat on the Newcastle Board of Education was December 1-3 at the Mc-Clain County Election Board. Two local residents filed for the office No. 1 position.
Ronald R. Lock, 70, and Casey Kreger, 38, filed for the seat. Lock currently holds the seat. He was elected last year to fill the remainder of an unexpired five-year term.
Because only two people filed, a primary election will not be necessary. The Board of Education General Election is scheduled by the Election Board for 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7.
