Newcastle Police Department was dispatched at 10:45 p.m. Monday night to the site of a possible homicide.
Police Chief Toby Garver said officers were dispatched to a remote area of Newcastle to the call of an unresponsive female. He said the sight was almost half a mile south of State Highway 9 on May Avenue.
Garver said Newcastle P.D. called in the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to be the lead investigating agency, with Newcastle investigators helping out as needed.
The deceased female, who has not been identified by authorities, was removed from the scene by the Oklahoma State Medical Examiner’s office.
