Saturday is Christmas in the Park

City Parks & Recreation Director Kyle Marks said this Saturday is the Newcastle Christmas in the Park celebration.

The annual event is becoming a community tradition, according to Marks, and they plan on-stage performances, a North Pole Market, photos with Santa Claus, inflatables, “real snow,” and kids’ games.

The official City of Newcastle tree lighting is scheduled at 6 p.m. and then there will be fireworks after that.

Marks was at the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce luncheon on Tuesday, November 25, and said those attending might want to dress warm, because it might be a little cold. Forecasters predict a high for the day of 54 degrees.

Local performers include Shiloh Christian Academy, Newcastle 4th and 5th graders, Elevate Dance Academy, and Footworks Performing Arts Studio.

Newcastle Rotary Club International will hold a bike giveaway to one lucky child as they explore the North Pole Market and collect stamps on a provided passport from the participating vendors.

Marks said this is a great time to kick off the holiday season.
