The Oklahoma Department of Transportation announced recently that all lanes and ramps between Norman and Goldsby are now open following the completion of the U.S. Interstate 35 and State Highway 9 West interchange reconstruction and I-35 widening project.
The project included the expansion of I-35 from four to six lanes from the Canadian River south to the Goldsby interchange, the construction of Oklahoma’s third diverging diamond interchange, and the addition of two local street roundabouts.
Motorists are urged to use caution as traffic adjusts to the new interchange layout. Some additional night closures may be required for minor project wrap up.
The I-35/SH-9W Interchange reconstruction and I-35 widening project was awarded to Sherwood Construction in August 2023 with a low bid of $82 million. Construction began January 29, 2024.
ODOT officials said the expanded interchange opened 24 days ahead of schedule, prior to the Thanksgiving holiday travel period.
