If you are a quilter or have an interest in quilts, there will be a quilt display this weekend at the First Baptist Church of Newcastle, 1650 N. Main Street.

A group of about 10 people who have a quilt group at First Baptist Church will show their works from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to noon on Sunday.

The group, which meets weekly at 9:30 a.m. on Mondays, will be set up in the northwest corner of the church entrance.

“Anyone who is interested in quilting or just seeing the quilts the group has made is invited to attend,” said Donna Thomas, a group member.

Thomas said there will be signs on the doors and it is a free event. She added that there will not be quilts for sale, but instead they will be displayed along with a tag describing the work and the name of the person who created the work.

Thomas said this is an event they held at the church prior to COVID-19, but has now been brought back.

She said there are other quilt groups in Newcastle and in Blanchard, and they are invited to attend, as is the public.
