Betty May Morris

Betty May Morris, 81, a beloved longtime resident of Newcastle, Oklahoma, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Senior Village Healthcare Center in Blanchard, Oklahoma.

Betty was born on May 3, 1944, in Norman, Oklahoma, the daughter of Raymond Franklin and Mary Lucille (Ennis) Felkins. She grew up in Norman and attended Jefferson Elementary School, with a short time spent in Perry, Oklahoma, where she attended Perry Junior High before returning to Norman with her parents.

On October 30, 1964, Betty married the love of her life, Phyllis Eugene “Gene” Morris. Together they built a beautiful life rooted in love, family, and faith. Betty was the proud mother of three children: Teresa Guerra and Gina Files, both of Newcastle, and Michael Morris. She was abundantly blessed with 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and two great-greatgrandchildren — each one holding a special place in her heart.

Betty was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Newcastle since 1970. For 36 years, she faithfully cared for little ones in the church nursery, loving each child as her own. Her gentle spirit, kind smile, and unwavering love for others reflected the heart of Jesus in everything she did.

Throughout her life, Betty worked hard and joyfully served others — first as a waitress at Levi’s Café in Norman and Wrangler Restaurant in Newcastle, and later as a friendly face at Walmart, where she greeted everyone with warmth and laughter for 13 years before retiring.

Betty was welcomed into Heaven by: her loving parents; her husband, Gene; her brother, Arnold Felkins; her son-in-law, Tommy Files; and her greatgrandson, Stryker Kane Langley.

She leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and laughter that will live on through those who loved her most: her children, Teresa and husband Vince Guerra, Gina Files, and Michael Morris; her 16 grandchildren, 21 greatgrandchildren, two great-greatgrandchildren; one sister, Gloria G. Brown of Perry; her special cousin, Janie Powell of Norman; and several nieces and nephews.

Those who knew Betty will forever remember her joyful spirit, her love for family, and her kind heart. We can only imagine her radiant smile as she entered Heaven’s gates — most likely handing out smiley-face stickers to everyone she meets.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday, October 27, 2025, at First Baptist Church Newcastle. Burial followed at Newcastle Memorial Gardens.
