‘We know a rat of a president when we see and hear one’
To the Editor,
It is interesting to read the comments by people who are opposed to protesters on NO KINGS day. Here is Trump’s comment.
“I looked at the people — they’re not representative of this country. And I looked at all the brand-new signs… I guess it was paid for by [George] Soros and other radical left lunatics,” Trump continued. “It looks like it was. We’re checking it out.”
“The demonstrations were very small, very ineffective, and the people were whacked (a misspelling by Trump) out. When you look at those people, those are not representative of the people of our country” Let me break my response down on my thoughts to Trump. First, he said the protesters are not representative of this country. Has he ever had the chance to look at the people at the local Walmart store? Yes, the crowds are representative of our country. If they were all in suits with red ties, that would not be representative of our country.
Trump said we are “whacked” (misspelled by Trump) out. There are wacked out people in all groups of our country. And one person’s wacked out person might be someone else’s intelligent, generous, fun person. What kind of wacked out is he talking about? Probably anyone that disagrees with him. And if you want to talk about someone who is wacked out, let’s talk about Trump going on about his “beautiful” signature when he spoke to 800 generals in a supposedly serious meeting. Yawn. Yes, listen to his entire speech if you don’t believe me.
Trump is upset with George Soros because he believes that Soros is providing funds to the NO KINGS protests. Well, what the heck is wrong with anyone providing funds to the cause? Did anyone complain about donors to Trump’s campaign. What a totally ludicrous complaint.
He assumes the brand-new signs the protesters held were paid for by Soros too. If Trump ever attended a NO KINGS protest, he would see few professional signs that needed to be paid for. If any were paid for, they were likely by the holder of the sign. Most signs are like mine handcrafted signs with evidence of various crafting abilities. And here we go again. There were tons of look-alike signs at Trump’s rallies. Was that a reason for anyone to complain. It is expected at rallies that there likely will be signs, and buttons; shirts and hats with messages. Again, a ludicrous complaint by Trump.
Other people claim that the protesters are paid to be present. I have been to 7 protests at a total of 5 different locations and no one paid or offered to pay me. None of my several friends have been paid. So, scratch that off the list of incriminations by the Trump people.
Some comments have been made with a negative attitude toward the many older people at the protests as if that is the only age group. I am one of those older people. And yes, there are many of us, some with canes or even in wheelchairs. We have the time, and try to give it our last bit of energy to be present. We may not be able to shout or sing as loudly, but we have lived many years and been through many presidents and think we know a rat of a president when we see and hear one. Trump has created more chaos than any other president. And there are plenty of younger generations at the protests who feel the same.
I rest my case.
