The former Carlito’s Cafe location in Newcastle has been purchased by another group of restauranteurs, who are preparing to open a new Mexican food establishment.
RCL Properties, LLC owners Luis Lopez, Jose Zarate, and Ramon Zarate are hoping to be open Casa Jalisca at 622 N.W. 32nd Street some time after the first of the year.
They are the owners of La Herencia Mexican Grill in both Midwest City and Piedmont, and Ramon is the owner of El Jalisco and El Tequila Mexican Restaurant and Bar, both in McAlester.
Lopez said, “We are excited to come to Newcastle, and we hope to have the local support. We will do all we can for the community.”
RCL Properties, LLC purchased the property on August 22 from Carlos and Gloria Gimenez. Lopez said they are currently busy at the Newcastle location changing the floors and remodeling the look of the inside. They plan to have a full-service bar, and their well-known cheese sauce, and chicken and steak foods, fajitas and enchiladas, among other items.
Casa Jalisca will be hiring probably 12 employees to fill positions as food servers, bus boys, cooks and dishwashers.
