Dancing tonight, crowning and football tomorrow
Aweek of Newcastle High School Homecoming activities culminates tonight and tomorrow with celebratory activities including a high school dance, a parade, a community festival, crowning of Homecoming King and Queen and the football game.
After an assembly on Monday, a blood drive on Tuesday, and a Fields of Faith celebration on Wednesday, Newcastle High students will have their Homecoming Dance tonight (Thursday) at Racer arena. Tickets are required for entry.
The community can jump into the celebration at 10 a.m. Friday with the annual Homecoming Parade on Main Street. Participants will stage prior to the parade at the football field parking lot. High school, middle school, little league, and cheer floats as well as community floats and Homecoming candidate floats will take part.
After the parade, a Community Festival will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Veterans Park, 705 N.W. 10th Street. The Festival will consist of a pep assembly and a carnival. The pep assembly is being led by Head Football Coach/ Athletic Director Jeff Brickman and the Racer football team, while the carnival is being planned by Newcastle High School Student Council.
The Homecoming Coronation will be at 6 p.m. — before the Newcastle football game against Classen School of Advanced Studies. Kickoff for the football game is at 7 p.m. Members of the Homecoming Court include: seniors Blake Allen, Isabella Allen, Jake Baldischwiler, Abby Barnes, Emma Bell, Bradyn Biggerstaff, Taylor Bradford, Rylee Furnish, Rylee Heskew, Kaden Longman; juniors Ashton Shumard and Anistyn Puckett; sophomores Chesney McLean and Chase Allen; and freshmen Pella Dimery and Max Heskew.
