Auditor’s report says no exceptions noted on County Treasurer’s Office report

An annual statutorily required report on the McClain County Treasurer’s Office came back with no exceptions noted.

The audit, performed by State Auditor & Inspector Cindy Byrd’s office, checked to see whether bank reconciliations were properly performed. They visually verified the certificates of deposit, and confirmed the McClain County investments. They also determined whether subsidiary records were reconciled to the general ledger, and determined whether deposits and invested funds were secured by pledged collateral.

All were noted as having been performed. As part of the report, Byrd states that the goal of the State Auditor & Inspector is to promote accountability and fiscal integrity in state and local government. She states that her office maintains an independence while providing the report, but also wishes to thank the County for their assistance and cooperation extended during the engagement.
