State Senator Kendal Sacchieri today celebrated the early results of her landmark legislation, Senate Bill 20, the Secure Roads and Safe Trucking Act of 2025.
The law requires commercial drivers in Oklahoma to demonstrate English proficiency and closes loopholes that previously allowed nondomiciled, non-resident drivers — many without legal status — to operate 18-wheelers on state highways.
“SB 20 is already working,” Sacchieri said. “We’re seeing enforcement in action. That will translate into fewer preventable incidents, more accountability in licensing, and stronger confidence from Oklahoma’s trucking industry.”
Senator Sacchieri’s statement comes after Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt’s announcement recently that Oklahoma Highway Patrol apprehended 130 illegal immigrants along U.S. Interstate 40 in an enforcement operation.
