Newcastle Band places 6th at Elgin, 2nd place for Class 5A bands
The Newcastle Racer Band earned 2nd place in the Class 5A division and 6th place overall out of 26 bands competing at the Elgin Southwest Showdown. In addition, the Racer Band received Best Auxiliary honors in both the preliminary round and the overall competition. The band’s next performance will be at the Oklahoma Band Association (OBA) Marching Contest on October 25 in Muskogee. They ask local residents to “come out and cheer on the Racer Band as they continue their outstanding season.” • photos provided
