Pioneer Library System (PLS) is inviting community members to read, make, and explore STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) this fall.
STEAM education plays a critical role in developing problem-solving abilities, collaboration, creativity, and emotional well-being. PLS provides an array of activities to strengthen these skills and provide pathways toward careers in STEAM-related fields.
Upcoming Events
Learn or improve your crocheting skills at the Library Lab every Monday from 5:30--6:30 p.m. Visitors can discover the endless possibilities of their own creativity by exploring small critters, clothing, and creative crafts to produce works of art.
Discover your inner inventor and explore Minecraft at the Newcastle Public Library on Friday, October 3. Designed for ages 6-11, this event will show how different Minecraft objects and materials work by fostering curiosity and problem-solving skills.
If you visit the Blanchard Public Library, you can learn how to build with LEGO Bricks, Marble Mazes, Gears, Magna-Tiles, Wood Blocks, Magnets and more on Monday, October 6. Children ages 5-11 can unleash their creativity and ignite their engineering skills.
A key goal of the STEAM initiative is to promote equity in access to high-quality educational tools and experiences. By offering diverse programs and mobile access, PLS ensures that everyone can benefit from STEAM learning.
In addition to programming, curated STEAM reading lists for kids, teens, and adults are available through PLS’s website. These lists offer resources to extend learning beyond events and workshops.
