Kids and adults will have the opportunity to explore large, emergency vehicles during Touch-A-Truck and Newcastle Night Out to beheld 6-8 p.m., Thursday, October 9.
The hands-on experience, described as being fun for kids, will not only have vehicles and equipment, but also food trucks and bounce houses. They will be set up at Veterans Park in Newcastle, 705 N.W. 10th Street. The public is invited to attend.
A City of Newcastle spokesperson said Touch-ATruck provides children with a safe environment to satisfy their curiosity, by exploring and learning about favorite vehicles they usually only get to see from afar.
Touch-A-Truck is one of many events that supports the learning and development of children.
Pioneer Library System will also be holding a Touch-A-Truck event from 9 a.m. to noon, September 27 at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds. This is a free event.
“Play-based learning is critical to children’s literacy and development,” said Maureen Pridgeon, co-chair of this year’s PLS event. “It helps kids embrace their curiosity, enhance cognitive skills, and build social and emotional growth.”
A related story on the PLS event is on page 5 of this week’s issue of the Newcastle Pacer.
