Newcastle’s middle school Racer football teams beat Shawnee last week. On Tuesday, September 2, the seventh grade team beat Shawnee, 28-6, and the eighth grade team beat Shawnee, 16-6.
Head Coach Judd Wilson said the eighth graders fought a big, physical team, getting down early before taking the lead in the fourth quarter.
Barrett Foster threw a 70-yard touchdown to Braylon Hardin and then ran in the twopoint conversion to seal the victory. Wilson said the Newcastle defense was stout, led by Layton Seaton and Austin Chase.
The seventh grade team was led by Avery Bradford, who threw two touchdowns and ran for one more. Kaleb Johnson also carried the ball for the Racers, resulting in a score.
