Saturday is the day for the first Newcastle Community Festival from 2-6 p.m. at Veterans Park. The fun, familyfriendly day is expected to be full of community connection, the Lawn Daddy Games, and a Movie in the Park after 6 p.m.
The festival will include live music, food trucks, booths, and all-day fun.
A new game will be offered which hasn’t been held in Newcastle before. The Lawn Daddy Games will be part of this year’s fun, said Parks & Recreation Director Kyle Marks.
“We’re making history this year with the first-ever Newcastle Community Festival — and it’s going to be one for the books,” Marks said. “To celebrate, we’re unleashing the inaugural Lawn Daddy Games, a high-octane showdown where dads ditch the grill and step into the arena for yard work glory. No equipment is needed, we will have everything you need.”
The Lawn Daddy Games include a Mower Drag Race, a Mower Percussion Course, Blower Ball Croquet, Wheelbarrow Obstacle Course, Hose Reel Roll-Up, Extension Cord Untangle, and more.
Marks said there will only be 50 spots, and one champion who earns the title of Lawn Daddy 2025 and a brand new EGO Blower.
Marks said entry fee for the games is $20 and includes exclusive swag and a shot at the title. To enter, go online to https://www.cognitoforms. com/CityOfNewc astle1/_2025LawnDaddyGa mesSignUp.
“The first 50 to register are in — don’t wait to see if your neighbor signs up. Beat him to it,” Marks said.
The Lawn Daddy Games are sponsored by P&K Equipment. All proceeds made during the event will go toward future Parks & Recreation projects.
