Perkins wins first belt buckle for showing cattle in Bryan, Texas

Named All-Around Junior Division Champion; thanks Livestock Booster Club

Harper Perkins, Newcastle 4-H Club member, successfully defended her All-Around Junior Division Championship at the American Junior Brahman Association All-American held in Bryan, Texas, July 1-8, 2025.

The All-Around competition is held each year during the National Junior Brahman Show. Competitors must participate in the owned cattle show, cattle showmanship and public speaking contest. Optional contests are Sales Talk, Marketing, Herdsman Quiz, and Photography.

Perkins, the daughter of Daryl and Susan Perkins, exhibited a Class Champion Brahman heifer with Miss HC Stormy 250/4.

Perkins purchased Stormy this year as a result of proceeds from the Newcastle Livestock Booster Club’s Bonus Auction.

“I was so excited to win my class with Stormy. It’s my first belt buckle for showing cattle. It wouldn’t have been possible without the Newcastle Bonus Auction and my buyers, Seth Wadley Ford and Rolling Coal Diesel.”

In addition to her class champion heifer, Perkins was named Reserve Champion in both Public Speaking and Sales Talk and placed third in the Herdsman Quiz. These wins resulted in her accumulating the highest number of points in the Junior Division for ages 10-13 years old, winning a second consecutive All-Around Division Championship.

Perkins was also crowned the 2025-2026 AJBA Princess and will represent the AJBA and the American Brahman Breeders Association at the National and International Brahman shows and other ABBA-sanctioned events throughout the year.

The royalty contestants compete in additional cattle showmanship, public speaking, and herdsman contests along with an intensive interview process to demonstrate their knowledge of the breed, communication skills, and ability to care for cattle.

The AJBA All-American is one of the largest single-breed junior cattle shows in the nation.

This year’s All-American was host to over 820 head of registered Brahman and Certified F-1 cattle and boasted almost 2000 entries across all competitions. Exhibitors represented eight states.

Perkins has been a member of McClain County 4-H, the Newcastle 4-H Club, and the AJBA for five years.
