Joined by Cal Hobson, former President Pro Tempore of the Oklahoma Senate, and Rocio Jacob, Mitchell Jacob of Newcastle officially announced his campaign for United States Congress on Saturday, August 16 at the Mid-America Technology Center in Wayne.

This event brought together family, friends, and supporters from across the district who want to be part of the change in Congressional District 4.

“There are 14 counties encompassed by this district, and it is the people who believe in the mission who make the most change. I am just here to be a voice for you and your needs,” Mitchell Jacob said.

Jacob spoke on three pieces of legislation that he is ready to write and sponsor if elected to Congressional District 4. These include the DNA Act, the HOPE Act, and a statutory change for the federal government.

The Doctors, Not Accountants (DNA Act) covers healthcare, which will not allow accountants to deny coverage that duly licensed physicians prescribe.

Holding Our Parents Equally Accountable — the HOPE Act — would create a law that parents purchasing a firearm for their child or negligently maintaining a firearm will be liable for the same crimes their child commits with said weapon.

The statutory change would require Congress to use the single-subject rule, so that each bill is about one topic only.

The kickoff featured remarks from Cal Hobson, followed by Rocio Jacob on the issue of immigration.

“This administration is operating without a single regard to due process, without a single regard to the Constitution, and without a single regard to basic human rights,” Rocio said.

Hobson said, “I’ve seen this for 50 years, Mitchell is the kind of young man that can change the future of this state.”

Jacob said his campaign is “focused on building a better Oklahoma and taking back the power of our beautiful Democracy.” He believes that every child has the right to a quality education.

He believes access to basic, life-saving care is a fundamental human right. And, he also believes that Americans must fight for the constitutional rights of every individual, and work to eliminate the federal debt.

Mitchell Jacob was joined by his wife, Rocio, and former Oklahoma State Senator Cal Hobson in announcing his bid for a Congressional seat.
