Oklahoma ranks among the nation’s leaders in beef cattle production — and with cattle prices at an all-time high, there has never been a better time to sharpen your management skills, increase efficiency, and improve profitability. Local producers now can do just that through the OSU Master Cattleman Program.
A new Master Cattleman’s Class is beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday, October 28 at Mid-America Technology Center in Wayne. The opening night will feature an overview of the program and full schedule.
The Master Cattleman Program is a comprehensive educational curriculum designed to enhance producer knowledge and decision-making in both cattle production and business management. The program equips ranchers with the tools they need to address industry challenges, manage risk, and build longterm profitability.
Certification requires 28 hours of coursework, delivered on Tuesday evening sessions beginning October 28. Core curriculum areas include: Nutritional Management, Quality Assurance & Animal Health, Reproduction, Natural Resources, Business Planning & Management, and Marketing & Risk Management.
Participants will receive the new Oklahoma Beef Cattle Manual, quizzes to ensure mastery of each discipline, and supporting materials designed to make lessons directly applicable to their own operations. Past classes have been highly successful and well received, with producers reporting improved management practices and increased profitability.
The fee is $175, covering course materials, the Beef Cattle Manual, a certificate, a Master Cattleman gate sign, and a logo notebook. Early registration is encouraged. To reserve a spot, call the Extension Office at 405-527-2174.
