The Newcastle 4-H Club is kicking off the new school year with an invitation to all area youth and their families to attend its first meeting of the year. It will be at 4:30 p.m. August 25 in the Ballroom of the Newcastle Public Library.
The meeting is open to newcomers and returning members alike, and the club emphasizes that participation in 4-H does not require students to have animals or space at home, said Newcastle 4-H leader Tammy Elliott.
“While agricultural projects remain a tradition, Newcastle 4-H offers a broad range of activities designed to accommodate diverse interests and living situations,” she said.
In addition to animal projects, the club provides opportunities for youth to engage in sewing, cooking, job readiness, photography, archery, public speaking, and fashion. Organizers hope to demonstrate that 4-H is about much more than farming — it’s about learning new skills, building confidence, and connecting with the community, Elliott said.
Those curious about 4-H or interested in joining are encouraged to attend the upcoming meeting to learn more about the many programs available.
