New Community event planned by Parks & Rec

New Community event planned by Parks & Rec

A new celebration is being planned by the Newcastle Parks & Recreation department. The Newcastle Community Festival is from 2-6 p.m. on Saturday, September 13 at Veterans Park, 705 N.W. 10th Street.

The City plans booths with games, information, and items to purchase. These will include churches, non-profit services, community organizations, and City of Newcastle departments.

Parks & Recreation Director Kyle Marks said, “We hope you’ll be part of this day of community celebration. The more groups that sign up, the more engaging this festival will be for everyone. Let’s show everyone how awesome this community really is.”

Marks said the deadline to sign-up is Saturday, September 7. He said you can go online to https://www.cognitoforms. com/CityOfNewcastle 1/_2025NewcastleCommunit yFestivalSignupForm.

For more information, you can contact Marks on the phone at 405-387-4506, or by email at kmarks@newcastleok. gov, or Newcastle Chamber of Commerce CEO/ Executive Director Gayla Riddle by phone at 405-387-3232, or email at chamber@newcastleok. org.

A booth fee of $15 is being charged for non-Chamber of Commerce members, while Chamber members are free. These proceeds go back to the Parks & Recreation Department for future projects. If you are not a Chamber member, you can still join the Chamber and get your booth for free.

Booth spaces are 10’x20’, and will be assigned by Parks & Recreation. You can bring a tent, tables and chairs, signage, handouts and games. No power will be available on site, and no food sales unless they are approved in advance. Booth set-up begins at 12:30 p.m., and festival tear down begins at 6 p.m.

During the Festival, there will be Lawn Daddy games hosted by the Parks Department (story on page 5). There will be food trucks and live music. A movie in the park will follow the festival beginning at 6:30 p.m.
