Animal Groups to host adoption event in El Reno Saturday

The City of Newcastle Animal Control is taking part in an upcoming multi-agency adoption event, part of Clear the Shelters, NBCUniversal Local’s nationwide pet adoption and donation initiative.

This initiative has helped more than one million pets find new homes and raised millions of dollars for participating animal shelters and rescues since 2015, organizers said.

The ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) Equine Transition and Adoption Center, along with Nexus Animals, Horse and Hound Rescue Foundation, Chickasha Animal Shelter, City of Newcastle Animal Control, City of El Reno Animal Control and City of Blanchard Animal Welfare and Adoption Center, will be hosting the adoption event in Oklahoma City on Saturday at Nexus Equine, 6608 S Manning Rd. in El Reno.

Participating shelters and rescues will have dogs, cats, and equines available to meet on-site and adopt.

Horses including Woody, Poppi and Spoon will be available for meet and greet on-site.

Organizers said there will be reduced fees for on-site adoptions so bring your trailers — there is plenty of parking. Along with meeting animals available for adoption, attendees can enjoy drinks and snacks provided by the Oklahoma State 4H youth volunteers.
