A new sort of competition is coming to Newcastle as part of the Newcastle Community Festival. The Lawn Daddy Games will be part of this year’s fun.
Parks & Recreation Director Kyle Marks said, “We’re making history this year with the first-ever Newcastle Community Festival — and it’s going to be one for the books. To celebrate, we’re unleashing the inaugural Lawn Daddy Games, a highoctane showdown where dads ditch the grill and step into the arena for yard work glory.
“No equipment is needed, we will have everything you need.”
The Lawn Daddy Games include a Mower Drag Race, a Mower Percussion Course, Blower Ball Croquet, Wheelbarrow Obstacle Course, Hose Reel Roll-Up, Extension Cord Untangle, and more.
Marks said there will only be 50 spots, and one champion who earns the title of Lawn Daddy 2025 and a brand new EGO Blower.
The games and festival are from 2:30-6 p.m. Friday, September 13 at Veterans Park. Marks said entry fee for the games is $20 and includes exclusive swag and a shot at the title.

“The first 50 to register are in — don’t wait to see if your neighbor signs up. Beat him to it,” Marks said.
The festival will include live music, food trucks, and all-day fun for the whole family. The Lawn Daddy Games are sponsored by P&K Equipment. All proceeds go toward future Parks & Recreation projects.
