Newcastle Athletics recently announced a Meet the Racers night at 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 9.
The special event is hosted by the Newcastle QB Club.
“We wanted a night for the community to get a look at all our athletes, including the fishing team,” said QB Club President Eric Ledoux. “Each team will be introduced as they walk onto the field by our PA guy Cory Duncan. As the teams take the field, we will take some time to introduce each senior individually. “
Before introductions begin, the QB Club will have food trucks, concessions, dunk tanks, etc. Gates open at 6 p.m.
“After the teams have been introduced fans will be able to come out on the field and meet their favorite athletes and get autographs if they wish,” Ledoux said.
Ledoux said when the club brought the idea to new Athletic Director Jeff Brickman, he said it would fit perfectly with his motto and message for the new year, which is uNity in the athletic department.
“It’s not just about any one sport. It’s about all our athletics,” Ledoux said.
