Greg Wheat says give of your time and care in order to build something for those who will be here after we are gone
Purcell resident Greg Wheat, a retired minister, business owner, speaker and author, made the drive on State Highway 9 on Tuesday, July 8 to the Newcastle Christian Church as guest of the Blanchard, Tuttle and Newcastle Chambers of Commerce.
Wheat, a Purcell City Council member who also served as president of Mid-America Leadership and president of the Purcell Chamber of Commerce, provided some of his life tips in relation to being a part of a Chamber.
While not necessarily in alignment with the positive message he would be delivering, Wheat shared that three months ago he suffered a “widow-maker” heart attack while snow skiing on a mountain with family. Chest compressions and five shocks to the heart kept him alive until he received other life-saving care.
Wheat said those who were with him at the time of the heart attack are amazed that he is still alive today.
For his main message to those in attendance, Wheat said success in business is all about networking and working together for a cause.
He said it’s about “individuals working together and compromising for the greater good — the bigger picture.”
“Be dreamers, be doers … and build for the next generation,” he said. “Every one of us can play a role in it.”
Wheat said it’s about giving of your time and your care for the betterment of your community.
He said it’s about building something “for the people who will be here long after we are gone.”
