Head Football Coach Jeff Brickman will return to not only lead the Racers for the 2025 football season, but also will be the school district’s Athletic Director.
Newcastle Public Schools announced the appointment after the Tuesday, June 24 Board of Education meeting.
Brickman brings more than 20 years of experience in public education and a proven track record in athletic program development and leadership, according to the school district. He has served as a head high school football coach for more than a decade, and his coaching experience extends to boys and girls basketball, boys track, boys soccer, and boys golf. Brickman also held the position of Offensive Coordinator at Oklahoma Baptist University.
During his tenure as Head Football Coach at Newcastle High School, Brickman has been instrumental in rebuilding the football program, leading the team to consistent success, including five consecutive playoff appearances from 2020-2024. Under his leadership, the program climbed from a preseason ranking of #31 in Class 4A in 2017 to a postseason #4 ranking in Class 5A in 2024.
In 2024, he was named District 5A-1 Coach of the Year and led Newcastle to an undefeated Conference Championship and a semi-final appearance in the Oklahoma State Playoffs.
Beyond the athletic field, Brickman has taught Advanced Placement Psychology and History and served as the history department head. He has also been the Fellow- ship of Christian Athletes sponsor for Newcastle High School for several years.
Brickman said, “I am incredibly honored and excited to step into the role of Director of Athletics for Newcastle Public Schools, while continuing to lead our football program. Having been part of the Newcastle community for over 20 years, and with my son attending Newcastle Public Schools since fourth grade, this community is deeply important to my family and me. I am committed to fostering an environment where all our student-athletes can excel, both in their sports and academically.
“I look forward to working with our talented coaches, dedicated staff, and supportive community to build upon the strong foundation already in place.”
Superintendent Dr. Cathy Walker expressed her enthusiasm for Brickman’s new role, stating, “We are thrilled to appoint Jeff Brickman as our new Director of Athletics. His extensive experience, commitment to student success, and deep roots within our community make him the ideal leader for this position.
“Jeff’s proven ability to build successful programs, develop young talent, and inspire those around him will be invaluable as we continue to enhance our athletic programs across the district. We are confident that he will continue to elevate Newcastle Public Schools’ reputation for excellence.”
Brickman holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Central Oklahoma and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration from Mid-America Christian University.
He has also been highly successful in helping studentathletes achieve collegiate scholarships, assisting 77 players in securing scholarships across NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, and junior college levels. He has also coached and helped develop five National Football League players.
