If you have hazardous pesticides, batteries or tires you need to get rid of, Saturday is the date.
The City of Newcastle “Too Toxic to Trash” event for this year is from 8 a.m. to noon at the Chickasaw Training Center, 400 N.W. 32nd Street.
Newcastle provides this service as a safe and convenient way for residents to dispose of household hazardous waste.
Items which can be disposed of include: • Oil-based paints (no latex)
• Tires • Pesticides and herbicides
• Fuels and oils
• Cleaning supplies
• Sharps (needles and syringes)
• Batteries and light bulbs
• Aerosol products DISPOSAL on page 3 • Expired and unused medication In addition to waste disposal, the Tri-City Hope Center will be conducting a food drive during the event. Attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to support local families in need.

Volunteers will be on site from the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality, Oklahoma Turnpike Authority, Keep Oklahoma Beautiful, Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics, and Newcastle city staff. Grant money from ODEQ pays for the event. For more information, contact Newcastle City Hall at 405387-4410.
