Newcastle High School’s volleyball program will continue to thrive under the dynamic leadership of Coach Aubrie Floyd, school officials said.
The Newcastle Board of Education approved her hire as the new high school head volleyball coach at their May monthly meeting. Since joining Newcastle Public Schools in August 2022, Coach Floyd has brought her passion, dedication, and an impressive volleyball background to the middle school team, fostering both athletic skill and a love for the game.
Prior to her coaching tenure at Newcastle, Coach Floyd was a standout volleyball player. During her time at Southwestern Christian University, she not only earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education with a perfect 4.0 GPA and graduating Magna Cum Laude, but also she left an indelible mark on the volleyball program.
As a three-year player, she demonstrated exceptional leadership as a senior captain and achieved the distinction of being a leading blocker on the team.
Coach Floyd’s personal achievements and her continued coaching at Newcastle Middle School are a testament to her dedication to the sport and to the development of young athletes within the Newcastle community.

Newcastle Athletic Director Brent Hodges said, “It is always very special when we get to have an accomplished alumni as our Head Coach. Aubrie was a captain on the only State Tournament team in Newcastle Volleyball history; we are looking forward to her continuing the amazing culture of this program and leading us back to the State Tournament.”
