‘Compassion, commitment to community’ honored
Aliyahna Dunn, a Horticulture Technician student from Newcastle at Mid-America Technology Center (MATC), has been awarded the prestigious Lauren’s Legacy Leadership Award by SkillsUSA.
This honor recognizes a student who exemplifies servant leadership, compassion, and a commitment to community.
Dunn was selected for her unwavering dedication to supporting her peers and leading with kindness — qualities that echo the spirit of the award’s namesake.
This award was created in memory of Lauren DeLaRosa- Hull, the 2018-2019 Skills Oklahoma state president, who tragically passed away in a car accident at age 17. Lauren’s life was marked by her passion for service and inspiring others, and the award continues her mission of leadership through empathy.
Dunn’s impact at MATC and within SkillsUSA reflects that same legacy.
“We are so proud of her leadership and the positive change she brings to those around her,” said Kara Murphy, MATC Horticulture teacher.
