STATE Next up for Newcastle is Sallisaw

The Racers punched their ticket to the Oklahoma Secondary School Athletic Association Class 4A Baseball State Championship tournament by winning the Super Regionals.

Newcastle was pitted against the Weatherford Eagles in a bestof- three. The Racers were named Super Regionals Champions after winning game one, 7-0, and game two, 6-3. Game three was unnecessary.

Head Coach Jarod King said, “In both games our starting pitchers threw really well. Tyler Frazier went the complete game, striking out 10 and giving up only two hits.”

King said Frazier also hit two for three, and Jackson Schanuel had a home run and hit three for four.

In the second game, King said Kaden Longman started at pitcher and was credited with the win, giving up only three hits. Schanuel and Lane Seaton finished the game.

Newcastle (ranked #2) will face Sallisaw (ranked #7) at 6:30 p.m. today (Thursday) at Norman North High School.

King said concerning Sallisaw, “At this point, everyone who is still in is good. If we pitch and play defense, we’ll be okay.”

The winner plays at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Norman North against the winner of the Tuttle and Chickasha game. The State Championship game is at 12:15 p.m. Saturday at Bricktown Ballpark in downtown Oklahoma City.
