OEC Foundation grant provides free school supplies for students

The Oklahoma Electric Cooperative (OEC) Foundation has awarded a $7,500 Operation Round Up (ORU) grant to the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce and the Blanchard Chamber of Commerce to provide free school supplies to elementary and middle school students in both communities.

The initiative, aimed at reducing financial barriers for families and helping students start the school year prepared and confident, will benefit hundreds of students across the two school districts.

“This grant directly supports the children and families in our communities,” said Gayla Riddle, CEO of the Newcastle Chamber Executive Board. “We are incredibly thankful to the OEC Foundation for investing in our youth and their future.”

The grant will fund essential school supply packs, which will be distributed ahead of the 2025–2026 school year. Both Chambers of Commerce will work closely with local schools and volunteers to ensure students in need are identified and served.

“This partnership reflects the shared commitment between OEC and our Chambers to support education and strengthen our communities,” said Ashley Evans, OEC Marketing and Rate Analyst. “When students have the tools they need, it empowers them to succeed.”

The OEC Foundation is funded by the voluntary donations of OEC members who round up their monthly electric bills to the nearest dollar. An independent board of directors distribute funds via an application process throughout the year to support education, community service and assistance for those in need across OEC’s service area.

Oklahoma Electric Cooperative is the state’s largest member-owned electric cooperative, providing electricity to over 62,000 accounts. To learn more about OEC and its community outreach efforts, visit www.okcoop.org.
