Mayor Nail has served the City for almost 19 years

Karl Nail has called Newcastle home for the past 33 years. He has been married to his wife, the former Kayla Griffith, for nearly 34 years. Together, they have raised three daughters and say they are now enjoying life as grandparents.

Mayor Nail has spent 35 years with the United States Department of Agriculture, where he currently serves as the District Director for Southwest Oklahoma for the Farm Service Agency. In addition to his federal service, he remains actively involved in his family’s multi-generational farm and ranch operation, which has been rooted in the Newcastle area since the late 1800s.

Mayor Nail has served the City of Newcastle since August 2006. He was elected Mayor in 2007 and has led the city for 14 of his 16 years on the City Council. His service to Newcastle began even earlier, as a member on the City Planning Commission, including two years as chairman.

Nail is considered to be a respected leader, a devoted family man, and a passionate advocate for agriculture and rural communities.
