Applications being taken for appointment of next member
Four-year member Darrin Abel has resigned from his seat on the Newcastle Board of Education and an appointment will be made.
Applications are being accepted for seat #1, according to Superintendent Dr. Cathy Walker.
“I would like to thank Mr. Abel for his service to Newcastle Public Schools for the past four years,” Walker said. “His dedication and contributions have made a lasting impact on our students, staff, and community.”
Interested individuals are encouraged to apply by May 8, 2025. Applications can be picked up at the administration building, 101 N. Main St. and submitted to: Tiffany Elcyzyn, president, Newcastle Board of Education, or Darla Allen, minutes clerk, Newcastle Board of Education, 101 N. Main St., Newcastle, OK 73065.
If you need more information, call the school at 405387-2890.
Dr. Walker said a copy of the district boundary map for each board seat can be found on the District’s website: newcastle.k12.ok.us. Click on “About Our District” and scroll to the bottom of the page.
Abel said he has resigned the seat so that his daughter will be eligible for hire with the District.
“It has been my pleasure to serve the community in this capacity,” Abel said.
He added that anyone with questions as to what serving on a school board entails is welcome to reach out to him via Facebook Messenger or phone/text if you have his number.
