Racers Soccer teams qualify for State, await others’ rain out games for OSSAA brackets

Both of the Newcastle Racer high school soccer teams were waiting on rained out games to be played by other teams in order to find out who they will play to begin the Oklahoma Secondary Activities Association Class 4A State Championship.

The Racer boys team qualified by finishing the regular season with a 10-4 overall record, going 4-2 in District 4A-2 competition just behind Clinton (4-2) and Heritage Hall (5-1).

Newcastle beat Weatherford, 3-0, on Friday, and then beat Elk City, 8-0, on Monday.

The Racer girls qualified for the State Tournament by finishing regular season play with a 11-3 overall record. They went 5-3 in District 4A-2 competition to win fourth place. The Racers tied with Blanchard (5-3), but beat them in a match earlier in the year, and also scored more points against their opponents than the Lions.

Clinton (6-2) finished in third place, while Heritage Hall and Weatherford (both 7-1) are first and second place with Heritage Hall having scored more points during competition.

The Racer girls beat Elk City, 7-0, on Monday, but lost to Weatherford, 4-3, on Friday.

State Tournament brackets are expected to be released on the OSSAA website after rained out games are played.
