Newcastle earned the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association District Championship last week by beating Plainview, 6-0.
They led District 4A-3 with 13 wins, and only one loss. Their season record now stands at 28-4 overall.
Oklahoma Christian School placed second in the District with a 12-2 record, and Mount St. Mary came in third with an 11-3 record.
The Racers finished regular season play with a game against Washington on Monday. Newcastle hosts Regional 5 competition today (Thursday) with game 1 at 11 a.m., Bishop McGuinness versus Tecumseh; game 2 at 1:30 p.m., Newcastle versus Bishop McGuinness; and game 3 at 4 p.m. touting Newcastle versus Tecumseh.
Friday Regionals play is determined by the outcome of the Thursday games.
In the District game against Plainview, Kaden Longman had a 12 strikeout performance. Jackson Schanuel went 3-3 at the plate, with two doubles and an RBI. Ryder Gibson went 3-4 at the plate, with a triple.
Tecumseh comes to the Regional Tournament with a 5-9 District record. Bishop Mc-Guinness has a 7-5 District record.
